Busy Race Weekend for Marcham Filled with Highs and Lows

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 1, 2010) - Coming off of his win last weekend at I-44 Speedway (OK), Trey Marcham looked forward to continuing his success at Port City Raceway (OK) and Creek County Speedway (OK). Having already made a name for himself as a Limited and A-Class Champion in the Midwest, Marcham expects to finish first every time he gets out on the track - anything less is just unacceptable.

Marcham's first stop of the weekend was Port City Raceway to compete in the non-wing sprint class. With over 35 cars on the line-up and a handful of ill-fated personal experiences at Port City, Marcham knew he would have his work cut out for him if he wanted to get to the front.

After starting 8th in Friday night's feature, Marcham quickly gained a couple of track positions until a wreck on lap four sent him to the rear of the field. In what was almost an exact repeat of his brother's night at I-44 Speedway last Saturday, Marcham found himself flipping down the straightaway after making contact with another competitor. Although Marcham walked away unscathed from the accident, the early mishap caused the 18-year-old driver to finish in the back of the pack.

Despite the previous night's event, Marcham's "go getter" attitude kept him focused and ready for Saturday's race at Port City. After a successful heat race, Marcham won the pole for the feature event and was eager to turn his luck around. Seven laps into the race Marcham seemed to have a victory in sight; however a slight tire swipe caused him to spin out and bend the entire front end of his racecar. A few laps later, Marcham made contact with another car, causing the damage to go from bad to worse. The front end of the car was completely destroyed, ultimately forcing him to retire from the race.

Sunday afternoon Marcham and team headed to Creek County Speedway, hoping to turn his luck around. Starting the race 6th, Marcham battled tough competition to end the night in 5th - his best finish of the weekend. Although his busy weekend got off to an unpleasant start, Marcham's top-five finish left him feeling satisfied and optimistic for the remainder of his 2010 racing schedule.

Next weekend, Marcham will start fresh when he completely switches gears from open-wheel sprints to late model stock cars. Having only two-career late model races under his belt, Marcham will travel to North Carolina this to compete in his first late model race of the season.
