Marcham Secures Top-10 Finish in First Late Model Race of the Season
Marcham Switches Gears from Dirt to Asphalt at Tri-County Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 7, 2010) - While Trey Marcham is a name commonly associated with Midwest sprint car racing, this weekend Marcham traveled to North Carolina to make the transition from open-wheeled dirt racing to stock car asphalt racing. Although it was his first Late Model race of the season, Marcham wheeled his No. 32 Orion Motorsports machine to an impressive 10th-place finish, during the 35-lap Limited Late Model feature at Tri-County Speedway.

Having raced at Tri-County on only one other occasion, Marcham arrived at the track knowing that his work was cut out for him. Marcham qualified 13th for the feature and was prepared to battle his way from the rear of the field.

It only took two laps for Marcham to pass two contenders, moving up to 11th. One caution and 18 laps later, Marcham raced into the top-10, after battling the No. 83 of David Hasson for the 10th position.

On lap 30, the second caution of the night came out, bunching the field together, allowing Marcham to tighten up on the bumper of the ninth-place driver. After a clean restart and smart driving, Marcham pulled away from the cars behind him but was unable to get around ninth in the final five-lap shootout. Marcham crossed the finish line with a hard-fought 10th-place finish.

"It was a different experience, but I really had fun and the car was running pretty good," said Marcham. "I have to thank Orion Motorsports for helping me out. I can't wait to get back into a late model again later in the season."

Although Marcham will return to competing sprints at his next race at I-44 Speedway (OK) on June 11th, his plans for the future include returning to Tri-County to have another try at racing Limited Late Models.
