Marcham Brothers Return to I-44 Looking for Revenge
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 16, 2010) - The Marcham brothers entered I-44 Speedway Saturday night ready to battle a track that recently provided a bittersweet non-winged victory for Trey. While Trey was celebrating in victory lane, younger brother Josh was on his way to a local hospital following a violent wreck in his non-winged series debut. Thankfully neither driver was fazed by the crash, and Josh returned to the seat of his winged A-Class car this weekend determined to succeed.
It was business as usual for Trey in his non-winged car as he picked up his sixth win of the season. Making it look easy, Trey started the feature in seventh and patiently drove to the front. By lap seven, Trey had moved up to fourth. He took the lead on lap 10 and never looked back, winning by a large margin.
The night also started off well for Trey in the A-Class, as the 2009 A-Class Champion marched his way through the field of his heat race. Trey started the heat race in the fifth position and finished second.
Meanwhile, Josh gained valuable winged A-Class experience in his respective heat race, starting and finishing in fourth place. Despite their heat race finishes, both drivers would start near the rear of the field in the A-Class A-Feature. Trey rolled off the grid in 12th, while Josh started in the 10th spot.
As the race began, the rough track conditions hindered the drivers' efforts to navigate through the field. While battling the treacherous track surface, Trey still managed to move from 12th to fourth before running out of tear-offs and time, forcing him to finish fourth. Josh worked his way up from a 10th-place starting spot to finish in the eighth position.
"The track was extremely bumpy tonight, which made it difficult to get to the front," Trey said following the race."I ran out of tear-offs with 10 laps to go, which didn't help. It was a solid day for both of us at 1-44, and we am looking forward to getting back on track next weekend."
The next race for the Marcham Brothers will be Friday, June 18 at I-44 Speedway.
