Kerstin Smutny Teams Up with Activ8 Communications
Becomes Newest Addition to Activ8 Driver Development Program

MOORESVILLE, NC (June 30, 2010) - Twenty-year-old Kerstin Smutny has signed with the Activ8 Communications Driver Development Program as she looks to make the transition from open-wheel racing to full-body stock car racing. The Activ8 Driver Development Program enables young drivers to gain invaluable seat time while also providing them with every resource they need to become successful - public relations, brand building and consulting.

Smutny, a Seattle-native, already has an impressive racing resumé with more than 13 years experience. She launched her racing career at age seven driving quarter midgets, and has continued to work through the open-wheel and road-course ranks ever since. In 2005 alone, Smutny competed in the Formula BMW series, tested a Formula TR 1600 car, and raced go-karts. In the following years, she remained a fierce competitor in the Formula TR series while also running full-size Midgets throughout the Northwest, and participating in USAC Western State races. Most recently, Smutny raced in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Series at road-course tracks throughout the United States.

Her on-track success has yielded countless honorable mentions and rewards including "Best Driver" at the Formula BMW USA licensing course in Valencia, Spain, a Lynn St. James Driver Development Scholarship, Pitfit Driver Memorial Scholarship, and she was named Featured Driver by the Women in the Winners Circle Foundation.

"I'm excited to become a part of Activ8 Driver Development," said Smutny of the new partnership. "Activ8 has a wonderful reputation so I'm eager to get going and to see where it all leads."

Mike Calinoff, NASCAR notable and championship spotter for Matt Kenseth, is just as thrilled for Smutny to join the Activ8 Development driver roster.

"I'm looking forward to working with Kerstin as she transitions from open-wheel racing to asphalt stock cars," said Activ8 Development Program creator Mike Calinoff. "It's exciting to have Kerstin on board and it'll be a great experience testing with her in a Limited Late Model for the first time."

Future plans for Activ8 Development Driver Kerstin Smunty will be announced as they become available.
