Summer Racing Schedule in Full Swing for Christian PaHud

Mooresville, N.C. (July 1, 2010) - Activ8 Development driver Christian PaHud continued his busy summer of racing last Friday, June 25 at Tri-County Motor Speedway. The young driver finished in fifth, giving him his seventh top-five of the season.

PaHud and the No. 63 Orion Motorsports team struggled in practice, leading the team to make several changes prior to qualifying. Although the changes helped fixed the problems from practice, PaHud still struggled on the qualifying attempt, which led to a seventh place starting spot.

"We put a bigger spring rubber in the right front," PaHud explained. "It seemed to help the problems we were having, but we made an extreme adjustment so we went way too far. I could barely drive the car in qualifying."

Before the race began, the Orion Motorsports team continued to work on the car to make the No. 63 Chevrolet a strong contender during the race. When the green flag flew, PaHud quickly worked his way up to third position and set his sights on the leaders.

On lap 15, PaHud noticed there was a problem with the exhaust, causing him to struggle on restarts throughout the race. After each caution, PaHud lost several spots, but through a great race car and strong driving, he gained the positions back during green flag runs. He went on to finish the race in fifth place.

"I kept getting killed on the restarts," said PaHud. "Every time we had a caution, I would lose spots. I could gain it back, but it was a fight all night."

PaHud intended on racing in the Summer Shootout on Tuesday night, but after struggling in Monday's practice session, the team decided to forgo Tuesday's race and put in more practice time next week.

The 17-year-old's busy racing schedule will continue this week, as he returns to Tri-County Motor Speedway tomorrow night. He will travel to Florence Speedway in Florence, S.C., on Saturday and Sunday for his first race at the track on Sunday, July 4. He also plans on racing in the Summer Shootout on Tuesday, July 6.
