Christian PaHud Returns to Victory Lane at Tri-County Motor Speedway
White Lake, N.Y. (Aug. 2, 2010) - Chris Young brought home a second-place finish at Bethel Motor Speedway Saturday night in the INEX Legends division.
The young driver competed in the fourth heat race of the evening, taking the lead in turn two and kept his car clean to finish the heat in first.
Lining up for the feature event, Young started in the fourth position and looked for a victory. When the green flag dropped, he slipped in behind Mike Alcaro, who had taken the lead on the second lap of the race.
Young held tight behind Alcaro, a pro-division driver. Kevin Nowak held the third position. As the top-three pulled away, Nowak tried to get under Young, but Young was able to hold him off for the duration of the race.
"The restarts were the main part of the race strategy," said Young. "Alcaro, Nowak and I kept stretching out and pulling away from the rest of the pack. It was a great race with a really good finish. I enjoyed the battle between those two great drivers."
Young crossed the finish line second at the event behind Alcaro.
The 16-year-old driver currently sits second in points in the N.Y. State INEX Legends Semi-Pro division. Veteran driver Nowak is 448 points ahead of Young in the standings.
"Hopefully we can gain some ground in the upcoming races in the New York State Semi-Pro division points," Young said.
He now looks to the LegendStock 2010 50-lap INEX Asphalt Nationals next Saturday, Aug. 7. The race, which draws talent from around the country, offers INEX Legends drivers the chance to win a three-foot-tall guitar-shaped trophy and a regional qualifier win for the INEX Asphalt Nationals.
